What’s the big deal?
Corporate values can – and should – be so much more than just the words that go at the front of an annual report. A good set of values can shape and tie together an entire organisation. How? They guide the responses and actions that are expected of everyone representing the company. They anchor your culture and tell the world what’s important to you. Products, services, processes and markets will come and go, but your values should remain consistent and underpin the way you do business through it all.
How do you define your corporate values?
Many organisations make the mistake of using a laundry list of words to cover all the bases. We believe it’s better to focus on a smaller number of key traits. Make your corporate values too wordy and not only will they be harder to remember (and be guided by) but they’re also unlikely to hold the same power as a handful of closely held attributes that hold real meaning to your company.
Corporate values that can’t be brought to life in a business context are also unlikely to be embraced by your workforce. For example, how do you expect employees to behave in certain circumstances, and why is this important to your business philosophy?
How we add value
PACT can help you define and disseminate your corporate values from scratch. We can articulate the behaviours that bring your values to life. We can help you express your value proposition in ways that will resonate with your audience and shape their behaviour. You may have a set of values that’s been around for decades, or you may need to re-articulate them for new places and markets. Wherever you stand now and whatever you need, we’ll help you use your corporate values to influence business behaviour.
